Montvale, NJ

At 1:00p.m. on Monday, October 20, 1975, the doors of School No. 2 were unlocked, and the building officially became The Montvale Free Public Library.

Twenty-eight years later, at 9:00p.m. on Monday, October 20, 2003, these same doors were locked for the last time as the Library moved to its new home in the Borough of Montvale's municipal complex.

To see the "road" we traveled to get from one side of town to the other, take a look at the "History of Montvale Free Public Library's Work towards Expansion 1991 to Present".

We have many fond memories of our first home at 11 East Grand Ave.  It played an important role in the history of the Montvale Library and in the history of the Borough of Montvale.

So...we've decided to keep its photo prominently displayed on our web site as an acknowledgment of the past while we work toward the future.
