Bergen County author Judy Eichinger will read excerpts from her recently-published book, Remembering Ruth, A Memoir of Childhood Sibling Loss and answer questions on the book, her life her sister and coping with loss of a loved one. Copies of the book will be available for purchase ($18, cash or check) and for signing. Light refreshments will be served.

The book tells the story of Judy and her sister, Ruth, who was born with severely damaged kidneys. Ruth died at age 15, and for many years, Judy couldn’t mention Ruth’s name or talk about her loss. Events finally forced her to confront her feelings and work through her grief, anger, and loneliness. The memoir movingly captures, moment to moment, that journey from a life of despair to one of fulfillment — in the hope of helping others who lost a sibling growing up.

Singer and pianist Sally Willig, a Montvale resident, will perform many of the two singers' most popular hits. Willig, a mezzo-soprano, took piano lessons at a young age and spent her formative years singing while accompanying herself on the piano. In college she majored in piano with formal singing lessons coming later. In the 1990s, she performed musical theatre with Blue Window Theater in the U.S. and abroad. More recently, she graduated from the Dorion School of Music Therapy and then went on to receive a master's degree in music therapy. Currently, she brings her voice and music to elderly adults in local senior residences, as well as leads a local church choir and performs at local venues for diverse audiences. Part of her work includes lovingly bringing back songs of Joni Mitchell and Judy Collins whose music helped to carry Willig through her teenage years.
